If you're in Wisconsin, don't forget to vote today.
It's the state superintendent of schools primary. (I'm voting for Underly.)

Wow, everything is absolutely insane out there, huh? Besides the wholesale destruction of the federal government as inescapable background, temps have been below zero in Madison, and I've had a pulled hamstring for like a month now. Because do you know what the treatment for a pulled hamstring is? The treatment is sitting with your leg elevated, routinely applying ice and compression, for like three weeks straight. That seems infeasible right now, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
• If you are a Wisconsin voter, today is the primary election for state superintendent of schools. I'm voting for the incumbent, Jill Underly. The other choices are a Republican-backed "moderate" (Brittany Kinser) and a district superintendent (Jeff Wright) who doesn't seem compelling enough to me to warrant disrupting the work Underly is doing.
• In other state politics news, we're electing a new Wisconsin Supreme Court justice on April 1. There's a Zoom town hall tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 19) at 7pm with Judge Susan Crawford, the progressive candidate. Even if you're not a Wisconsinite, this race is a big deal, because we're a swing state and legal battles over the results of future elections here will be decided by whoever wins. Giant living turd Elon Musk knows this, and has started pouring dark money into ads here on behalf of Crawford's conservative opponent, Brad Schimel.
More tomorrow. There's obviously plenty to write about right now, and I'm trying to figure out what the most useful writing I can do is, in terms of harnessing our energies to stave off the collapse of civilization. Stay gold, ponyboys and ponygirls.
